Seed Cathedral

The brilliant bristling structure you see above is not the world’s largest pincushion – it’s Thomas Heatherwick‘s recently completed UK Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai Expo. Dubbed the “Seed Cathedral”, the six-story high structure is studded with 60,000 translucent rods that act as fiber-optic filaments that channel sunlight into the pavilion’s interior. The densely-packed forest of filaments also contains the impetus to create living forests in the future — each 7.5 meter long “branch” contains seeds from the Millenium Seed Bank that will be given to China one the expo has run its course.

I watched the presentation of Thomas Heatherwick in TED Talk. This artist creates a lot of interesting architecture which was the Seed Cathedral in 2010. The concept of this monument is biodiversity. He always thinks the combination of nature and architecture. He designed different things in his work, such as temple, cafe, bridge, and so on.Architecture is fundamental instrument in our life. Therefore, designing architects mean design human lifestyle. In my opinion, I think eco-friendly can lead the way to create and design that make not only product but also architecture more unique. Furthermore, the building that combine between eco and aesthetic can make people realize to the important of nature.

project 4 London trip

This project is my last project for pre-sessional English course. We went to different city and museum for each project. At this time, we went to London, and the museum is near to London tower which is brilliant. I was very excited although it's not my first time to London tower.

                                                   Fausto Puglisi AW14/15 collection
                                                   Designed by Fausto Puglisi, Italy
The autumn/winer ready-to-wear collection from Fausto Puglisi combines irregular blocks and triangular shards of strong contrasting colors. The harlequin effect comes from mixed fabrics in silk, crepe wool and soft leather. These garments -short and pleated skirts, loosely fitting knitwear, bejeweled and embroidered dresses, and structured jackets and tourers- were inspired by the movement, speed, color and strength found in the fragmented forms of early 20-th century abstract art movements, such as Supermatism, the Cubist art of Sonia Delaunay and the dynamism of Serge Diaghilev's Ballets Russes.
